About the Journal
Sorogan: Journal of Pesantren and Madrasah Pedagogy is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published twice a year (February and August) by Mitra Edukasi Sejahtera, Indonesia. Named after the one-to-one reading method of the pesantren, it publishes empirical research on teaching and learning in pesantren and madrasah: how students learn, how kiai, ustadz, and teachers teach, and how curricula, assessment, and learning environments are designed and implemented. Its settings are pesantren (including Ma’had Aly and muadalah pesantren), madrasah diniyah, and formal madrasah from pre-school to upper secondary level, as well as comparable institutions in Southeast Asia. Every article must rest on primary data or verifiable secondary data. Articles are accepted in Indonesian and English.
No submission fee; an APC applies to accepted articles only. Articles are published under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license.
